Heckler & Koch HK416

| Tuesday, July 5, 2011 | 0 comments

HK416 is an assault rifle made by Heckler & Koch, based in Germany. The rifle is considered as a further development of the M4 carbine rifle used as a standard in the U.S. armed forces and many other countries. Now, HK416 considered the best assault rifle in the world. This is partly supported by its ability to operate in any terrain.

M16 and M4 replacement is very sensitive to extreme environments such as the sandy terrain. Grains of sand can make the gun jammed. Conditions like these who are eager to be avoided by soldiers during the war.

The HK416 uses a proprietary gas system derived from the HK G36, replacing the direct impingement gas system used by the standard M16/M4.[3] The HK system uses a short-stroke piston driving an operating rod to force the bolt carrier to the rear. This design prevents combustion gases from entering the weapon's interior, a shortcoming with direct impingement systems.[4] The reduction in heat and fouling of the bolt carrier group increases the reliability of the weapon and extends the interval between stoppages. It also reduces operator cleaning time and stress on critical components. The SA80 bull-pup assault rifle used this system long before the HK G36 was developed.
