The Strategic Unmanned Air Vehicles (Experiment) Integrated Project Team, or SUAV(E) IPT, is responsible for auditing and overseeing the project. The aircraft, which is intended to demonstrate the viability of unmanned multi-role systems, is named after the Celtic god of thunder, Taranis.

Kimber Warrior and Desert Warrior have an ambidextrous thumb safety, a lanyard loop, an internal extractor, and, in contrast to other Custom models, a standard length recoil spring guide rod to allow easier field stripping without tools. The black Warrior is externally very similar to the Custom TLE/RL II, but can be differentiate by its grip plated, ambidextrous safety and the Meprolight "Tactical Wedge" sights as opposed to the Meprolight "Slant" sights which are standard on most Kimber pistols.
